Tuition / Affording Sea Crest

Sea Crest School is a 501(c)(3) non-profit independent school. Tuition costs are determined by our Board of Trustees, who take into account the rising cost of educating a child, the economic diversity of the student population, and the operational costs, such as competitive faculty compensation, of running a school.

Primary and Secondary School (JK-4)

Upper School (5th-8th)

Tuition at Sea Crest includes enrichment, technology, school supplies, photos, a yearbook, and field study trips. Upper School (5th-8th grade) tuition is higher to offset the additional cost of the student experience, which includes 1:1 Chromebook, music band, and overnight field trips.

Families may elect to participate in 'My Hot Lunch Box' (our food service delivery partner); Athletics, Extended Day Programming, and International Trips (5th-8th grade), at an additional cost.

WE OFFER FLEXIBLE TUITION

The Flexible Tuition Program makes a Sea Crest Education accessible to families from a wide range of economic backgrounds, allowing qualifying families to pay according to their resources. We believe that the cost of a Sea Crest education should not be a deterrent to any family, and that having students from all walks of life enriches our community and the educational experience for all.

37% of Sea Crest students participate in flexible tuition and remission, helping to create a more inclusive and vibrant learning environment.

Sea Crest provides flexible tuition as a grant, which is not expected to be repaid to the school. Grants vary in size depending on need and range anywhere from 10 to 90% of the published tuition rate. Award decisions are based on a family's demonstrated need through this process and are balanced with the funds available in the School's budget.

Flexible tuition applications are processed separately from admissions applications. The Admissions Committee does not know which students are applying for flexible tuition. Grants are allocated in a highly confidential process by the Flexible Tuition Committee, which is comprised of school administrators.

HOW TO APPLY FOR FLEXIBLE TUITION

Process

Complete an online application - Interested families submit a confidential flexible tuition application through Sea Crest's partner, Clarity. The system helps to determine a family's level of financial need based on detailed information collected on the application including household income, expenses, assets, family structure, etc.

To get started, please go to Clarity and create an account. The application typically takes less than 30 minutes to complete and is mobile-friendly so you can complete it from anywhere. You are able to save your progress and return at any time.

Submit supplemental documentation - requirements may vary depending on each family's circumstance.

Tax forms typically required: W-2 Wage and Tax statements, Federal Form 1040 and all applicable schedules, California Form 540, and for business owners Schedule C or E and all applicable schedules.

Schedule a meeting - For new flexible tuition applicants, once your application and all required documentation has been submitted, our Chief Financial Officer will reach out to schedule a 30 minute (virtual) meeting. We strive to make the process as easy as possible while taking the time to understand each family's unique life circumstance.

December 10, 2024 - Flexible tuition applications available online [New & Returning Families]

January 31, 2025 -Flexible tuition application due [New & Returning Families]

February 2025 - One-on-one meeting scheduled with our CFO [New Families only]

February 26, 2025 - New student admissions decisions communicated [New Families only]

February 28, 2025 - All required supplemental tax documentation due [New & Returning Families]

March 14, 2025 - Flexible tuition awards emailed with enrollment contracts [New Families]

Families have one week to consider their award and share their enrollment decision with the school.
