advisory

Advisory provides a “home” for every student within the Middle School. Each student is assigned an advisor each year who is essentially the student’s on-campus coach, mentor and advocate. Each advisor’s group of advisees meets once a week after our Middle School assembly.

In advisory, we explore topics such as study and life skills, relevant social issues, current events, and self-advocacy. Each advisor acts as a student advocate, offering advice and support in communicating effectively with parents, teachers, and peers.

Advisory offers practical ways to meet the social and emotional needs of Middle School students. Through our weekly advisory period, teachers offer students a consistent, dependable opportunity to get to know themselves and each other, to build social strengths, to warm up their thinking selves in a wide variety of mentally challenging games and relevant activities, and to have fun in the process.
