lower school admissions (grades 1–5)
Once an application is submitted, students applying for grades 1–5 will spend a full day (8:30 am–3 pm) "shadowing" with a current grade-appropriate Sea Crest student. Prospective students will follow the schedule of the grade they are visiting, and will be assessed by the teachers in core abilities throughout the day. Again, our goal is to make sure admitted students will find success in our program.
In making admissions decisions, the Admissions Committee reviews the family application, the student's prior school record, the confidential evaluation from the child’s current teacher(s), and the observations and assessments from the student’s day on campus. At times, to gain a better sense of the student's potential, we may invite a student back for a second shadow day, and/or will contact the student’s current teacher to elaborate on the completed evaluation form.
