Each trimester, middle school students choose two elective courses to supplement their work in the five core subjects. The mainstays of the elective program are the upper level courses in technology, drama, art, chorus, or band. Technology electives have included programming, multi-media design, keyboarding, video making, and digital photography. The drama department has offered students the opportunity to write, direct and act in their own one-act plays or movies. Middle schoolers also have the option to play the leads in our all-school musical or build the sets for the show. Other elective options taught by the core teachers have included Newspaper, Leadership, Introduction to French, Sign Language, and Aerodynamics. The list is ever-changing based on the interests of the teachers and the students. These opportunities allow our students to pursue their own individual interests and expand their horizons under the thoughtful tutelage of a Sea Crest faculty member. These classes meet twice a week, and rotate every trimester so that students have the opportunity to try many new challenges each year.
