Drama

The Sea Crest Drama Program is designed to give students a safe place to explore their creativity.

Starting in kindergarten, students partake in the improvisational games and language developed by Viola Spolin to increase self-esteem, improve communication skills and begin a life-long appreciation of the theater. More complex study, including script work, audition technique, scene and monologue study, and the advanced acting lessons developed by Sanford Meisner are introduced as the students progress. During class, students discover their unique senses of humor, learn team work, and use it all on stage in our annual all-school musical each spring.

Lower School students have drama for one hour each week. Middle School students may choose from a wide range of drama electives. In the past, classes have included student-written and -performed one-act plays and films. In addition, Middle School students audition for, and are cast in, lead roles in the all-school musical.
