The art program at Sea Crest offers students a chance to learn a variety of art techniques and styles, as well as provide a means for self-expression and creativity. The art program also augments the curriculum with special projects that enhance the learning experience.
There are three main focus points in the Sea Crest art curriculum. First, we look at broad historical and cultural movements as we study art and architecture throughout history. Second, we stress the fundamentals as students gain an understanding of color theory, perspective, proportion and the use of various art media and tools. Third, we place a special emphasis on the study of the arts of indigenous cultures from various parts of the globe.
Lower School students benefit from an hour of art instruction each week. Middle schoolers can choose from a variety of art electives after taking the required General Art class at the beginning of 6th Grade. Middle School elective courses are 45 minutes in length, twice a week.
